Franklin is a tiny town located in the state of Alabama. With a population of 132 people and just one neighborhood, Franklin is the 390th largest community in Alabama.
Occupations and Workforce
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Franklin is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Franklin is a town of professionals, managers and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Franklin who work in management occupations (27.59%), teaching (16.09%) and office and administrative support (6.90%).
Of important note, Franklin is also a town of artists. Franklin has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Franklin’s character.
Setting & Lifestyle
Because of many things, Franklin is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Franklin a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Franklin has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Franklin’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the country, making it one of the safest places to raise a family.
It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Franklin has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Franklin has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Franklin than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Franklin may be for you.
Franklin is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
