Lingle is a very small town located in the state of Wyoming. With a population of 1,097 people and just one neighborhood, Lingle is the 35th largest community in Wyoming. Much of the housing stock in Lingle was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.
Lingle is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Lingle is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Lingle who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.19%), sales jobs (12.77%), and farm management (10.79%).
You will also find that a lot of people in Lingle work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 8.35% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
One of the benefits of Lingle is that there is very little traffic. The average commute to work is 18.50 minutes, which is substantially less than the national average. Not only does this mean that the drive to work is less aggravating, but noise and pollution levels are lower as a result.
Lingle is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
The education level of Lingle citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 18.11% of adults in Lingle have at least a bachelor's degree.
The per capita income in Lingle in 2000 was $18,690, which is upper middle income relative to Wyoming, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $74,760 for a family of four.
The people who call Lingle home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Lingle is White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Lingle include German, English, Irish, Scotch-Irish, French, Italian, Swedish, and Czech.
The most common language spoken in Lingle is English.
