Mount Hope is a very small city located in the state of West Virginia. With a population of 1,478 people and just one neighborhood, Mount Hope is the 133rd largest community in West Virginia. Much of the housing stock in Mount Hope was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Mount Hope is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Mount Hope is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals.
