When you are in Owen, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 41.6% of Owen's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Owen is a town of managers, service providers, and production and manufacturing workers. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 18.29% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
As is often the case in a small town, Owen doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
The population of Owen has a very low overall level of education: only 7.94% of people over 25 hold a 4-year college degree or higher.
