About Maiden Rock

Maiden Rock is a very small town located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 1,077 people and just one neighborhood, Maiden Rock is the 383rd largest community in Wisconsin. Maiden Rock has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

When you are in Maiden Rock, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 39.6% of Maiden Rock's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Maiden Rock is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Maiden Rock who work in office and administrative support jobs (15.10%), farm management (12.15%), and sales jobs (7.64%).

You will also find that a lot of people in Maiden Rock work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 9.04% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Because of many things, Maiden Rock is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Maiden Rock a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Maiden Rock has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Maiden Rock's overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the country, making it one of the safest places to raise a family.

In Maiden Rock, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 32.77 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Maiden Rock is a very car-oriented town. 97.08% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Maiden Rock is a small town, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Maiden Rock has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.

Being a small town, Maiden Rock does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
