Loyal is a very small town located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 2,900 people and just one neighborhood, Loyal is the 222nd largest community in Wisconsin. Much of the housing stock in Loyal was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.
Loyal is a blue-collar town, with 40.5% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 24.7%. Overall, Loyal is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Loyal who work in office and administrative support jobs (13.40%), farm management (11.56%), and sales jobs (5.92%).
You will also find that a lot of people in Loyal work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 13.82% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
As is often the case in a small town, Loyal doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
In Loyal, just 9.29% of people over 25 hold a college degree, which is very low compared to the rest of the nation, whereas the average among all cities is 14.96%.
The per capita income in Loyal in 2000 was $15,816, which is low income relative to Wisconsin, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $63,264 for a family of four.
The people who call Loyal home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Loyal is White, followed by African-American. Important ancestries of people in Loyal include German, Norwegian, English, Polish, and Irish.
The most common language spoken in Loyal is English. Some people also speak German.
