About Lanexa

Lanexa is a very small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Virginia. With a population of 3,814 people and just one neighborhood, Lanexa is the 187th largest community in Virginia.

Unlike some towns , Lanexa isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Lanexa are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Lanexa is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Lanexa who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.61%), sales jobs (10.41%), and building maintenance and grounds keeping (8.04%).

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Lanexa are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

One downside of living in Lanexa, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 33.97 minutes every day commuting to work.

Lanexa is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Lanexa isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 98% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Being a small town, Lanexa does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
