About Fort Hunt

Fort Hunt is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Virginia. With a population of 12,827 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Fort Hunt is the 78th largest community in Virginia.

Fort Hunt is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 94.86% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Fort Hunt is a town of professionals, managers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Fort Hunt who work in management occupations (20.97%), business and financial occupations (10.04%), and sales jobs (9.82%).

Of important note, Fort Hunt is also a town of artists. Fort Hunt has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Fort Hunt's character.

And if you like science, one thing you'll find is that Fort Hunt has lots of scientists living in town - whether they be life scientists, physical scientists (like astronomers), or social scientists (like geographers!). So, if you're scientific-minded, you might like it here too.

Fort Hunt is home to a number of people employed in the armed forces. When you visit or walk around Fort Hunt, some of the people you will bump into will be military people In and out of uniform, jogging, shopping and generally out and about town.

In addition, Fort Hunt is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates," which are people who are not only wealthy and employed in professional occupations, but highly educated to boot. Urban sophisticates have urbane tastes - whether they reside in a big or small city, a suburb, or a little town. Urban sophisticates support bookstores, quality clothing stores, enjoy luxury travel, and in big cities, they are truly the patrons of the arts, attending and supporting institutions such as opera, symphony, ballet, and theatre.

Because of many things, Fort Hunt is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Fort Hunt really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Fort Hunt perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Fort Hunt are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

One downside of living in Fort Hunt is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Fort Hunt, the average commute to work is 32.84 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.

Fort Hunt is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
