Boyce is a tiny town located in the state of Virginia. With a population of 427 people and just one neighborhood, Boyce is the 372nd largest community in Virginia. Boyce has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Boyce is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Boyce is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Boyce who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.19%), teaching (7.14%), and sales jobs (7.14%).
One downside of living in Boyce, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 31.36 minutes every day commuting to work.
Boyce is a very car-oriented town. 97.99% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Boyce is a small town, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Boyce has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.
As is often the case in a small town, Boyce doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
The education level of Boyce citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 19.19% of adults in Boyce have at least a bachelor's degree.
The per capita income in Boyce in 2000 was $17,041, which is lower middle income relative to Virginia, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $68,164 for a family of four.
Boyce is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Boyce home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Boyce is White, followed by African-American. Important ancestries of people in Boyce include English, German, Irish, Norwegian, British, Scottish, and Italian.
The most common language spoken in Boyce is English.
