Torrey is a tiny town located in the state of Utah. With a population of 411 people and just one neighborhood, Torrey is the 109th largest community in Utah.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Torrey is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Torrey is a town of service providers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Torrey who work in building maintenance and grounds keeping (14.36%), management occupations (10.77%), and community and social services (7.69%).
And if you like science, one thing you'll find is that Torrey has lots of scientists living in town - whether they be life scientists, physical scientists (like astronomers), or social scientists (like geographers!). So, if you're scientific-minded, you might like it here too.
In addition, many people in Torrey have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.
Torrey is an extremely popular vacation destination. A significant portion of the population is seasonal. During the vacation season, the town experiences a large influx of people who take up residence in second homes they own in the area. As the vacation season ends, the population drops again, leaving behind a substantially quieter and smaller town.
Because of many things, Torrey is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Torrey really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Torrey perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Torrey spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 16.24 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.
Torrey is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
The education level of Torrey citizens is substantially higher than the average US city or town, as 31.97% of adults in Torrey have at least a bachelor's degree.
