Canton is a very small city located in the state of South Dakota. With a population of 3,052 people and just one neighborhood, Canton is the 26th largest community in South Dakota. Canton has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.
Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Canton is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Canton is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and production and manufacturing workers.
