Tiverton, RI Information

About Tiverton

Tiverton is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Rhode Island. With a population of 15,260 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Tiverton is the 25th largest community in Rhode Island.

Unlike some towns, Tiverton isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Tiverton are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Tiverton is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Tiverton who work in office and administrative support jobs (18.21%), sales jobs (11.54%), and management occupations (7.56%).

One of the nice things about Tiverton is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the town are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

Residents of Tiverton by-and-large get to work each day by driving: 98.1% use their own cars for their daily commute, making it a very car-oriented town. While Tiverton may be a convenient place for driving around town, the negative aspect of this is that places that are suitable for walking or bicycling to and from work or stores may be few and far between. In general, car-oriented communities emphasize roads and convenience of driving, but not have a lot of walking-friendly areas to get from home to work, and tend not to have a lot of public transportation options.

As is often the case in a small town, Tiverton doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
