About Dupont

Dupont is a very small coastal city (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Washington. With a population of 2,464 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Dupont is the 183rd largest community in Washington.

Dupont has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures.

Also of interest is that Dupont has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

13.97% of the workforce is employed in the armed forces, making the military a huge focus of life in Dupont. Even though it is a military town, the civilian sector still plays an important role in the local economy. The Healthcare and Public Service industries respectively employ 20.42% and 14.41% of the civilian workforce.

The city is also nautical, which means that parts of Dupont are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

Dupont is a small city, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
