About Camas

Camas is a somewhat small coastal city (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Washington. With a population of 12,682 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Camas is the 73rd largest community in Washington.

There's nothing like the smell of a brand new house, and in Camas, you'll find that a large proportion of houses were recently built. New growth in residential real estate is an indication that people are choosing to move to Camas, and putting down their money on brand new construction. Camas's real estate is, on average, some of the newest in the nation. The city does seem to be experiencing an influx of affluent people, because the median household income in Camas is $60,187.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Camas is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Camas is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Camas who work in office and administrative support jobs (13.65%), management occupations (13.52%), and sales jobs (11.91%).

Also of interest is that Camas has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

One of the nice things about Camas is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the city are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

As is often the case in a small city, Camas doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
