About Kingston

Kingston is a somewhat small city located in the state of Tennessee. With a population of 5,271 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Kingston is the 114th largest community in Tennessee.

Unlike some cities, Kingston isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Kingston are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Kingston is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Kingston who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.78%), sales jobs (10.43%), and teaching (7.63%).

Kingston is very much a car-oriented city. This is because the population of Kingston isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.2% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

As is often the case in a small city, Kingston doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
