Here's how it works:

Step One: Get matched with a Pre-Screened Realtor

Within one business hour your NeighborhoodScout counselor will contact you to match you with a top prescreened Realtor® based on your personal needs, price, and chosen location. If you are selling your home, we will match you with two top-selling agents from different offices who will compete for your business. Once matched, your agents will contact you right away, usually the same day.

Step Two: Buy or sell the perfect home for you

Your NeighborhoodScout counselor will be available to personally answer questions, provide assistance and will monitor your service to make sure you receive the best service possible, and that your purchase or sale goes smoothly. If you aren't happy with your agent, just let us know and we will either get you a new one or see that their service to you meets your standards -- you won't need to do a thing. Step Three: Get a Cash Award of up to $2,000 or more

When an agent helps you buy or sell your home, they get a split of the commission from the seller's broker, and the agent pays us a referral fee from that commission. Because we want our interests to be aligned with yours, we take 20% to 50% of our referral fee and put it back in your pocket. What's in it for NeighborhoodScout?

We get paid when you are happy with your matched agent and you buy or sell using that Realtor®. If they don't help you buy a house or successfully sell your house, we don't get paid. That's why our interests are directly aligned with yours. Our matching service is free to you, and our payment comes from the agent's commission.

How does NeighborhoodScout get paid?

We get paid a referral fee only on business that closes, and it comes from the agent, not you. All of this is free to you, including your cash award, and if you are a seller, the cash back you receive after the sale is the equivalent of a commission rebate. But it all depends on you being happy enough with your agent to actually make a purchase or sale. That is why we are your advocate every step of the way.

Where does the cash back come from?

Because we know that none of this works without you, we take 20% to 50% of the referral fee we receive, and we give it back to you. If you are a buyer, this money comes from the seller's commission (not from you), and if you are the seller your cash back acts as an effective commission rebate that is money back in your pocket that you won't get elsewhere (you negotiate the commission with your selling agent before choosing to use them). The more house you buy or sell, the more cash we give back to you. The important thing to know is that there is never an extra cost to you; we get paid a portion of your agent's commission because we put them in touch with you, so and the commission only happens if they do the job for you. And our matching service is always free to you, the customer.
