Fairview, PA
About Fairview
Fairview is a somewhat small town located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 8,029 people and just one neighborhood, Fairview is the 198th largest community in Pennsylvania.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Fairview is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Fairview is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Fairview who work in management occupations (13.89%), office and administrative support jobs (12.15%), and sales jobs (11.17%).
Because of many things, Fairview is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Fairview really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Fairview perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Fairview spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 18.79 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.
Fairview is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Fairview isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.18% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.
Being a small town, Fairview does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
