About Canfield

Canfield is a somewhat small city located in the state of Ohio. With a population of 7,491 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Canfield is the 241st largest community in Ohio.

Canfield is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 86.36% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Canfield is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Canfield who work in sales jobs (16.39%), management occupations (14.38%), and office and administrative support jobs (11.76%).

In addition, Canfield is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness.' But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.

Because of many things, Canfield is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Canfield really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Canfield perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

Canfield is very much a car-oriented city. This is because the population of Canfield isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 98.35% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Being a small city, Canfield does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
