About Whitesboro

Whitesboro is a very small village located in the state of New York. With a population of 4,034 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Whitesboro is the 428th largest community in New York. Whitesboro has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic villages in the country.

Unlike some villages, Whitesboro isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Whitesboro are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Whitesboro is a village of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Whitesboro who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.58%), sales jobs (13.06%), and teaching (8.69%).

In addition, Whitesboro is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

Because of many things, Whitesboro is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Whitesboro really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Whitesboro perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Whitesboro spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 17.29 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the village are less than they would otherwise be.

Whitesboro is a small village, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Whitesboro, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 98.95% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

Being a small village, Whitesboro does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
