About Marcy

Marcy is a somewhat small town located in the state of New York. With a population of 7,912 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Marcy is the 260th largest community in New York.

Marcy is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Marcy is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. One of the benefits of Marcy is that there is very little traffic. The average commute to work is 17.49 minutes, which is substantially less than the national average. Not only does this mean that the drive to work is less aggravating, but noise and pollution levels are lower as a result.

Marcy is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Marcy isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 96.56% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

As is often the case in a small town, Marcy doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
