Lake View, NY
About Lake View
Lake View is a somewhat small town located in the state of New York. With a population of 5,599 people and just one neighborhood, Lake View is the 349th largest community in New York.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Lake View is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Lake View is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Lake View who work in office and administrative support jobs (15.57%), sales jobs (10.28%), and healthcare (9.05%).
In addition, Lake View is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates," which are people who are not only wealthy and employed in professional occupations, but highly educated to boot. Urban sophisticates have urbane tastes - whether they reside in a big or small city, a suburb, or a little town. Urban sophisticates support bookstores, quality clothing stores, enjoy luxury travel, and in big cities, they are truly the patrons of the arts, attending and supporting institutions such as opera, symphony, ballet, and theatre.
Because of many things, Lake View is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Lake View a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Lake View has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Lake View's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.
Lake View is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Lake View, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 97.33% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.
Being a small town, Lake View does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
