Herkimer is a somewhat small village located in the state of New York. With a population of 7,487 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Herkimer is the 279th largest community in New York. Herkimer has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic villages in the country.

Unlike some villages where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Herkimer is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Herkimer is a village of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals.
