About Hancock
Hancock is a very small town located in the state of New Hampshire. With a population of 1,739 people and just one neighborhood, Hancock is the 155th largest community in New Hampshire.
Hancock is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Hancock is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Hancock who work in office and administrative support jobs (13.60%), management occupations (13.48%), and teaching (8.88%).

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 9.43% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Hancock is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The town's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Hancock's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.
Hancock is a very car-oriented town. 97.46% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Hancock is a small town, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Hancock has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.
Being a small town, Hancock does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
