About Lincoln

Lincoln is a somewhat small town located in the state of Massachusetts. With a population of 8,056 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Lincoln is the 199th largest community in Massachusetts.

And if you like science, one thing you'll find is that Lincoln has lots of scientists living in town - whether they be life scientists, physical scientists (like astronomers), or social scientists (like geographers!). So, if you're scientific-minded, you might like it here too.

Also of interest is that Lincoln has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Of important note, Lincoln is also a town of artists. Lincoln has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Lincoln's character.

13.50% of the workforce is employed in the armed forces, making the military a huge focus of life in Lincoln. Even though it is a military town, the civilian sector still plays an important role in the local economy. The Professional, scientific, and technical services and Education industries respectively employ 14.93% and 13.26% of the civilian workforce.

In addition, Lincoln is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness.' But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.

Because of many things, Lincoln is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Lincoln a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Lincoln has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Lincoln's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

As is often the case in a small town, Lincoln doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
