About Riverdale
Riverdale is a somewhat small town located in the state of Maryland. With a population of 19,968 people and just one neighborhood, Riverdale is the 75th largest community in Maryland.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Riverdale is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Riverdale is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Riverdale who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.69%), building maintenance and grounds keeping (7.87%), and sales jobs (6.36%).
Also of interest is that Riverdale has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
In addition, Riverdale is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness.' But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.
In Riverdale, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 34.04 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average. One bright side is that local public transit is widely used, so it may be an option to avoid the headache of driving in the heavy traffic by leaving the car at home and taking transit.
Despite being a small town, Riverdale has a lot of people using the bus to get to and from work every day. Most of these people on the bus are using it to get to good jobs in other cities.
