About Lacombe

Lacombe is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Louisiana. With a population of 9,452 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Lacombe is the 65th largest community in Louisiana.

Unlike some towns, Lacombe isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Lacombe are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Lacombe is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Lacombe who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.54%), sales jobs (10.81%), and management occupations (7.13%).

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Lacombe are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

In Lacombe, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 32.36 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Lacombe is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Lacombe isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 98.38% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Lacombe is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
