About Garrett

Garrett is a somewhat small town located in the state of Indiana. With a population of 7,755 people and just one neighborhood, Garrett is the 90th largest community in Indiana. Garrett has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Garrett is a blue-collar town, with 45.8% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 24.7%. Overall, Garrett is a town of production and manufacturing workers, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Garrett who work in office and administrative support jobs (13.16%), sales jobs (8.21%), and food service (6.33%).

Garrett is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Garrett isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.24% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Garrett is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
