About Duluth

Duluth is a medium-sized city located in the state of Georgia. With a population of 22,388 people and five constituent neighborhoods, Duluth is the 35th largest community in Georgia.

Duluth is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 86.00% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Duluth is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Duluth who work in office and administrative support jobs (15.99%), management occupations (15.99%), and sales jobs (13.21%).

Also of interest is that Duluth has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Duluth, while not large, also appears to be attractive to some younger, educated professionals, who help shape the character of the city.

Because of many things, Duluth is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Duluth a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The city's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Duluth has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Duluth's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One downside of living in Duluth, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 30.33 minutes every day commuting to work.

Residents of Duluth by-and-large get to work each day by driving: 97% use their own cars for their daily commute, making it a very car-oriented city. While Duluth may be a convenient place for driving around town, the negative aspect of this is that places that are suitable for walking or bicycling to and from work or stores may be few and far between. In general, car-oriented communities emphasize roads and convenience of driving, but not have a lot of walking-friendly areas to get from home to work, and tend not to have a lot of public transportation options.
