Holiday, FL Information

About Holiday

Holiday is a medium-sized coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 21,916 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Holiday is the 119th largest community in Florida.

Holiday is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Holiday is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Holiday who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.84%), sales jobs (13.69%), and healthcare (6.68%).

Holiday is a major retirement destination. In fact, people 65 and over make up 31.98% of the population. For those considering a place to retire, Holiday may be a good choice because much of the town's services and social community are oriented toward the over-65 demographic.

One of the nice things about Holiday is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the town are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities. This is definately true of Holiday, which supports a strong tourist economy.

Residents of Holiday by-and-large get to work each day by driving: 97.7% use their own cars for their daily commute, making it a very car-oriented town. While Holiday may be a convenient place for driving around town, the negative aspect of this is that places that are suitable for walking or bicycling to and from work or stores may be few and far between. In general, car-oriented communities emphasize roads and convenience of driving, but not have a lot of walking-friendly areas to get from home to work, and tend not to have a lot of public transportation options.

Holiday is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
