Woodbridge, CT Information

About Woodbridge

Woodbridge is a somewhat small town located in the state of Connecticut. With a population of 8,983 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Woodbridge is the 99th largest community in Connecticut.

Woodbridge is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 91.02% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Woodbridge is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Woodbridge who work in healthcare (15.78%), management occupations (14.59%), and teaching (11.65%).

Of important note, Woodbridge is also a town of artists. Woodbridge has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Woodbridge's character.

In addition, Woodbridge is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

Because of many things, Woodbridge is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Woodbridge really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Woodbridge perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

Woodbridge is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Woodbridge isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.9% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Woodbridge is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
