About Aspen

Aspen is a somewhat small city located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 5,807 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Aspen is the 67th largest community in Colorado.

Aspen is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 85.23% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Aspen is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Aspen who work in sales jobs (14.15%), management occupations (13.23%), and office and administrative support jobs (12.39%).

Of important note, Aspen is also a city of artists. Aspen has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Aspen's character.

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 11.45% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

For a small city, there is also a high proportion of single, often educated, people living in Aspen. This is not typical for most smaller communities in America, and adds a feeling of vibrancy to Aspen.

Residents of the city have the good fortune of having one of the shortest daily commutes compared to the rest of the country. On average, they spend only 12.81 minutes getting to work every day.

As is often the case in a small city, Aspen doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
