Norco, CA Information

About Norco

Norco is a medium-sized city located in the state of California. With a population of 23,797 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Norco is the 284th largest community in California.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Norco is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Norco is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Norco who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.83%), sales jobs (11.63%), and management occupations (10.72%).

In Norco, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 34.39 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Residents of Norco by-and-large get to work each day by driving: 96.7% use their own cars for their daily commute, making it a very car-oriented city. While Norco may be a convenient place for driving around town, the negative aspect of this is that places that are suitable for walking or bicycling to and from work or stores may be few and far between. In general, car-oriented communities emphasize roads and convenience of driving, but not have a lot of walking-friendly areas to get from home to work, and tend not to have a lot of public transportation options.

Norco is a small city, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

The percentage of people in Norco with college degrees is quite a bit lower than the national average for cities and towns of 14.96%: just 11.88% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Norco in 2000 was $20,710, which is middle income relative to California, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $82,840 for a family of four. However, Norco contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
