About Capitola

Capitola is a somewhat small coastal city (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of California. With a population of 10,204 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Capitola is the 430th largest community in California.

Unlike some cities, Capitola isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Capitola are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Capitola is a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Capitola who work in office and administrative support jobs (12.42%), management occupations (11.24%), and sales jobs (10.85%).

Also of interest is that Capitola has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Of important note, Capitola is also a city of artists. Capitola has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Capitola's character.

For a small city, there is also a high proportion of single, often educated, people living in Capitola. This is not typical for most smaller communities in America, and adds a feeling of vibrancy to Capitola.

The city is also nautical, which means that parts of Capitola are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.

As is often the case in a small city, Capitola doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
