Paradise Valley, AZ
Paradise Valley is a somewhat small town located in the state of Arizona. With a population of 13,629 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Paradise Valley is the 39th largest community in Arizona.
Paradise Valley is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 95.69% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Paradise Valley is a town of managers, professionals, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Paradise Valley who work in management occupations (23.44%), sales jobs (15.48%), and healthcare (12.80%).
Of important note, Paradise Valley is also a town of artists. Paradise Valley has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Paradise Valley's character.
Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 10.86% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
In addition, Paradise Valley is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates," which are people who are not only wealthy and employed in professional occupations, but highly educated to boot. Urban sophisticates have urbane tastes - whether they reside in a big or small city, a suburb, or a little town. Urban sophisticates support bookstores, quality clothing stores, enjoy luxury travel, and in big cities, they are truly the patrons of the arts, attending and supporting institutions such as opera, symphony, ballet, and theatre.
Residents of Paradise Valley by-and-large get to work each day by driving: 97.5% use their own cars for their daily commute, making it a very car-oriented town. While Paradise Valley may be a convenient place for driving around town, the negative aspect of this is that places that are suitable for walking or bicycling to and from work or stores may be few and far between. In general, car-oriented communities emphasize roads and convenience of driving, but not have a lot of walking-friendly areas to get from home to work, and tend not to have a lot of public transportation options.
