About Piedmont

Piedmont is a somewhat small city located in the state of Alabama. With a population of 5,251 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Piedmont is the 134th largest community in Alabama.

When you are in Piedmont, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 51.7% of Piedmont's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Piedmont is a city of production and manufacturing workers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Piedmont who work in office and administrative support jobs (11.47%), sales jobs (9.30%), and teaching (5.39%).

Piedmont is a very car-oriented city. 99.15% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Piedmont is a small city, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Piedmont has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.

As is often the case in a small city, Piedmont doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
