About Hailey

Hailey is a somewhat small town located in the state of Idaho. With a population of 8,304 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Hailey is the 23rd largest community in Idaho.

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Hailey is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Hailey is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Hailey who work in sales jobs (14.41%), office and administrative support jobs (12.51%), and management occupations (10.88%).

A relatively large number of people in Hailey telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 7.70% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Being a small town, Hailey does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
