Kennesaw, GA Information

About Kennesaw

Kennesaw is a medium-sized city located in the state of Georgia. With a population of 21,908 people and four constituent neighborhoods, Kennesaw is the 36th largest community in Georgia.

Much of the housing in Kennesaw has been built relatively recently. The construction of new real estate can often be taken as an indication that the local Kennesaw economy is robust, and that jobs or other amenities are attracting an influx of new residents. This seems to be the case in Kennesaw, where the median household income is $60,404.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Kennesaw is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Kennesaw is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Kennesaw who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.63%), sales jobs (14.57%), and management occupations (13.00%).

Also of interest is that Kennesaw has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

In addition, Kennesaw is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

Kennesaw is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The city's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Kennesaw's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One downside of living in Kennesaw is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Kennesaw, the average commute to work is 37.14 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.

Kennesaw is a very car-oriented city. This is because most people - 97.8% - drive by car to work every day, and few people choose alternative modes of transportation, such as public transit, cycling, or walking. In general, car-oriented communities have a layout that emphasizes streets, highways, and ease of parking, and sometimes this can be to the detriment of human-scale priorities such as walkability alongside roads, and public spaces. For example, strip malls are something you will find in Kennesaw.
