Ruskin is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 8,293 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Ruskin is the 263rd largest community in Florida.

Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Ruskin is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 39.2% of the Ruskin workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 24.7%. Overall, Ruskin is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Ruskin who work in office and administrative support jobs (11.24%), sales jobs (8.96%), and food service (8.22%).
