About Cuba
Cuba is a tiny town located in the state of Alabama. With a population of 414 people and just one neighborhood, Cuba is the 327th largest community in Alabama. Much of the housing stock in Cuba was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.
Cuba is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Cuba is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Cuba who work in office and administrative support jobs (19.53%), sales jobs (15.81%), and management occupations (15.35%).
And if you like science, one thing you'll find is that Cuba has lots of scientists living in town - whether they be life scientists, physical scientists (like astronomers), or social scientists (like geographers!). So, if you're scientific-minded, you might like it here too.
You will also find that a lot of people in Cuba work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.
Cuba is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Cuba isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 98.56% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.
As is often the case in a small town, Cuba doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
