About Mount Penn

Mount Penn is a very small borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 3,025 people and just one neighborhood, Mount Penn is the 548th largest community in Pennsylvania. Mount Penn has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Unlike some boroughs where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Mount Penn is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Mount Penn is a borough of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Mount Penn who work in office and administrative support jobs (18.32%), sales jobs (10.45%), and management occupations (9.68%).

Also of interest is that Mount Penn has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

In addition, Mount Penn is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

Mount Penn is a small borough, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Mount Penn, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 96.6% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

Mount Penn is a small borough, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
