About Birmingham

Birmingham is a tiny borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 84 people and just one neighborhood, Birmingham is the 1062nd largest community in Pennsylvania. Much of the housing stock in Birmingham was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Unlike some boroughs where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Birmingham is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Birmingham is a borough of professionals, managers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Birmingham who work in teaching (20.45%), management occupations (18.18%), and building maintenance and grounds keeping (15.91%).

Seniors make up 29.76% of Birmingham's population, making it a popular place to retire. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, Birmingham is good place for those over 65 to settle, as they will find many opportunities for socializing, as well as having access to many services oriented toward seniors.

Being a small borough, Birmingham does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
