About Archbald

Archbald is a somewhat small borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 6,220 people and just one neighborhood, Archbald is the 280th largest community in Pennsylvania. Archbald has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Archbald is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Archbald is a borough of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Archbald who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.99%), sales jobs (10.63%), and healthcare (7.97%).

Archbald is very much a car-oriented borough. This is because the population of Archbald isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.42% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Despite the fact that Archbald is a relatively small borough, the public transit system is fairly well used to commute to work. Many people choose to use the bus, often traveling to the central city in the region.
