Richfield is a very small village located in the state of Ohio. With a population of 3,299 people and just one neighborhood, Richfield is the 415th largest community in Ohio.
Unlike some villages where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Richfield is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Richfield is a village of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Richfield who work in office and administrative support jobs (15.57%), management occupations (13.74%), and sales jobs (9.58%).
Also of interest is that Richfield has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
In addition, Richfield is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.
Because of many things, Richfield is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Richfield a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The village's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Richfield has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Richfield's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.
Richfield is very much a car-oriented village. This is because the population of Richfield isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.31% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.
Being a small village, Richfield does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
The overall education level of Richfield citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 24.60% of adults in Richfield have at least a bachelor's degree, and the average American community has 14.96%.
The per capita income in Richfield in 2000 was $32,888, which is wealthy relative to Ohio and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $131,552 for a family of four. However, Richfield contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
The people who call Richfield home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Richfield is White, followed by Asian. Important ancestries of people in Richfield include German, Polish, English, Italian, Irish, Hungarian, and Slovak.
