About Bradley Beach

Bradley Beach is a very small coastal borough (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of New Jersey. With a population of 4,793 people and just one neighborhood, Bradley Beach is the 344th largest community in New Jersey. Bradley Beach has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Bradley Beach is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Bradley Beach is a borough of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Bradley Beach who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.16%), sales jobs (13.76%), and computer science and math (7.41%).

Also of interest is that Bradley Beach has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

For a small borough, there is also a high proportion of single, often educated, people living in Bradley Beach. This is not typical for most smaller communities in America, and adds a feeling of vibrancy to Bradley Beach.

In addition to being popular with young singles, Bradley Beach is also home to many people who can be described as "urban sophisticates." Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

One of the nice things about Bradley Beach is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the borough are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities. This is definately true of Bradley Beach, which supports a strong tourist economy.

One downside of living in Bradley Beach is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Bradley Beach, the average commute to work is 31.15 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average. On the other hand, local public transit is widely used in the borough, so leaving the car at home and taking transit is often a viable alternative.

Despite being a small borough, Bradley Beach has a lot of people using taxis to get to and from work every day. Most of these people on taxis are using it to get to good jobs in other cities.
