About New Castle

New Castle is a very small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of New Hampshire. With a population of 1,009 people and just one neighborhood, New Castle is the 159th largest community in New Hampshire. New Castle has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

New Castle is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 89.60% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, New Castle is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in New Castle who work in management occupations (16.37%), sales jobs (14.60%), and office and administrative support jobs (11.06%).

Of important note, New Castle is also a town of artists. New Castle has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape New Castle's character.

Also of interest is that New Castle has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

A relatively large number of people in New Castle telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 9.07% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

In addition, New Castle is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates," which are people who are not only wealthy and employed in professional occupations, but highly educated to boot. Urban sophisticates have urbane tastes - whether they reside in a big or small city, a suburb, or a little town. Urban sophisticates support bookstores, quality clothing stores, enjoy luxury travel, and in big cities, they are truly the patrons of the arts, attending and supporting institutions such as opera, symphony, ballet, and theatre.

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of New Castle are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

As is often the case in a small town, New Castle doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
