About Wyndmere

Wyndmere is a tiny town located in the state of North Dakota. With a population of 980 people and just one neighborhood, Wyndmere is the 68th largest community in North Dakota. Wyndmere has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

When you are in Wyndmere, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 36.1% of Wyndmere's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Wyndmere is a town of managers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Wyndmere who work in farm management (14.00%), office and administrative support jobs (13.35%), and teaching (7.00%).

Another important characteristic of Wyndmere is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 15.40% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Being a small town, Wyndmere does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
