Menoken is a tiny town located in the state of North Dakota. With a population of 719 people and just one neighborhood, Menoken is the 86th largest community in North Dakota.
Menoken is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Menoken is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Menoken who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.59%), sales jobs (10.12%), and farm management (9.64%).
Also of interest is that Menoken has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
Another important characteristic of Menoken is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.
A relatively large number of people in Menoken telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 11.85% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Because of many things, Menoken is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Menoken really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Menoken perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
As is often the case in a small town, Menoken doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
In terms of college education, Menoken is nearly on par with the US average for all cities of 14.96%: 14.19% of adults 25 and older in Menoken have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
The per capita income in Menoken in 2000 was $18,646, which is upper middle income relative to North Dakota, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $74,584 for a family of four.
