About Edmore

Edmore is a tiny town located in the state of North Dakota. With a population of 498 people and just one neighborhood, Edmore is the 102nd largest community in North Dakota. Edmore has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Edmore is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Edmore is a town of managers, service providers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Edmore who work in farm management (23.88%), teaching (11.94%), and food service (11.44%).

In addition, many people in Edmore have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

A relatively large number of people in Edmore telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 19.00% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Seniors make up 30.32% of Edmore's population, making it a popular place to retire. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, Edmore is good place for those over 65 to settle, as they will find many opportunities for socializing, as well as having access to many services oriented toward seniors.

Because of many things, Edmore is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Edmore really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Edmore perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

As is often the case in a small town, Edmore doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Edmore Information and Demographics
