About Buxton

Buxton is a tiny town located in the state of North Dakota. With a population of 746 people and just one neighborhood, Buxton is the 83rd largest community in North Dakota. Much of the housing stock in Buxton was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Unlike some towns , Buxton isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Buxton are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Buxton is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Buxton who work in office and administrative support jobs (12.01%), farm management (10.61%), and sales jobs (8.10%).

Also of interest is that Buxton has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

In addition, many people in Buxton have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

Buxton is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Buxton, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 97.63% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

As is often the case in a small town, Buxton doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
