About Cove City

Cove City is a very small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of North Carolina. With a population of 2,605 people and just one neighborhood, Cove City is the 259th largest community in North Carolina.

Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Cove City is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 41.4% of the Cove City workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 24.7%. Overall, Cove City is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Cove City who work in office and administrative support jobs (10.55%), sales jobs (6.98%), and food service (6.41%).

You will also find that a lot of people in Cove City work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Cove City are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.

Cove City is a very car-oriented town. 97.65% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Cove City is a small town, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Cove City has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.

As is often the case in a small town, Cove City doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
